Meet the Team

Ian Van der Woude

Ian Van der Woude

Managing Director

Ian has explored the coastlines of the world by sailboat. He has clocked over 30,000 nautical miles of coastal and ocean yachting, discovering far off places and developing a love for the rich diversity of food and culture across the globe.

He has had a career that has spanned all facets of the hospitality industry, from owning his own pubs to the head offices of the biggest brands in the industry, including executive positions with Lion Nathan Australia, Castlemaine Perkins and Austotels.

After exploring places around the world that bring people together, from the Italian piazza to the Turkish bazaar to the Asian hawker markets; and living and breathing the Australian hospitality industry, he was inspired to create a space that similarly brings people together. NightQuarter will create an opportunity for people to find all the things they love in one place and feel a sense of community within a dynamic space.

If you were Ian’s guest at a dinner party, you would be served his signature ceviche dish learned in the Galápagos Islands and a perfectly paired glass of Queensland verdello. You would also meet his cheeky black labrador, Barney.

Michelle Christoe

Michelle Christoe

Director

Michelle is a dynamo in the truest sense of the word. At the age of 19, she moved to LA and started her own multi million dollar company importing high-end Australian goods. With a deep appreciation of Australian produce and Australian culture, since returning home she has been a fierce advocator for our food industry.

Executive positions with the Bakery Industry Association, Seafood Services Australia and the Australian Horticultural Exporters Association have seen her on the frontline of sustainability in the Australian food industry. As well as this, she has owned her own successful food production company and food marketing consultancy.

NightQuarter is a culmination of a career advocating for Australian makers, growers and artists, giving emerging Queensland entrepreneurs a chance to connect directly with the community and build sustainable businesses.

If you were Michelle’s guest at a dinner party, you would be served a traditional lamb roast and a homemade fresh fruit tart…. followed by a cuddle with her border collie, Lily.
