Incubating local talent…
NightQuarter and our trainees have been nominated for the third consecutive year in the Queensland Training Awards. NightQuarter was formed to bring community together and incubate local talent at the grassroots.
This culture includes bringing on high school trainees and university internships, helping them career path with the goal of becoming job ready at the end of their program. We take this role seriously as it is an important phase of a student’s career.
To foster community and individual growth bring a lot of benefits to an organisation, it increases job satisfaction and morale among all the employees as it is a team effort. Our Supervisors work with the students on a buddy system to guide them in their role’s within the organisation. Our students and organisation have been nominated in consecutive years for Queensland Training Awards. This is a credit to our team and we have been so proud of the student’s achievements. Many students have gone on to be employed by the organisation in roles such as graphic design, marketing assistant, entertainment booking, functions, bar supervisors, food outlet supervisors and event managers!
This approach has extended to projects within the TAFE such as Coomera TAFE where we have worked with interior design students on projects giving them real-world community spaces to design. This was integrated with the local community who vote on the winning designs and everyone gets rewarded through the process. We have always been proud of the quality of designers that attend the TAFE and celebrate the opening of these spaces with the students.
NightQuarter is also a venue space and so, believes working with musicians as they grow their career as important. The Queensland Conservatorium Griffith music program curated a six week showcase series at NightQuarter for three years ‘SEED’ representing emerging innovative artists (both students and graduates) and NightQuarter has committed to the program since opening delivering quality, local and innovative music.
